Hello, and welcome to a very special edition of NerdVsWorld. On this episode I chat with Pop Music Academic and Pop Culture Nerd, Dr. Jennifer Otter Bickerdike, about her latest book “Why Vinyl Matters.”
In “Why Vinyl Matters”, Jen chats with some great and notable names within the music industry (Henry Rollins, Lars Ulrich, Nick Hornby, Norman Cook, Fat Mike.. and many more) about their memories of vinyl.
Many years ago I used to run a music venue. When you do this for a living, certainly at that time, you spend an inordinate amount of time listening to demo CD's from bands trying to get gigs at your venue. Mostly this is an exercise in stringing together acts for a triple bill evening of similar themed music. However, every once in a while you stumble across an absolute gem. Silverman were exactly one of those gems. Soulful, heartwrenching tunes of love, loss and anger, backed by swirling, dark beats and haunting melodies. And then there's Anna's voice. Dear god.
As excited as we all are about the forthcoming release of No Man's Sky in June, we were not expecting this latest bit of juicy news:
65daysofstatic are set to release the official soundtrack to the most anticipated game of the year, No Man’s Sky on June 17th.
Hoobastank, P.O.D and Alien Ant Farm have confirmed that they will be touring the UK together this May for a run of dates.
That's right. The lovely Professor Elemental needs your help to make his next music video, Please Don't Feed The Trolls. The campaign is now underway over at IndieGogo where you can pledge your support for all manner of shiny goodies including posters, CDs and even the opportunity to be in the video.
It's also worth noting that any money raised above and beyond the amount needed to make the video will be given to charity. That's how splendid a chap the Prof really is.

We've featured these guys a couple of times on our NerdVsWorld shows. Now, after the success of their debut album 'Red Light Fix' and having garnered a massive following on youtube, The Dirty Youth are set to embark on a UK tour this October.

Fans of Captain Side Project, Dave Grohl, can now get a quick peek of the Foo Fighter's upcoming album as well as the accompanying documentary, Sonic Highway.
