Recap season 1:

The Earth has been messed up by humanity (again) but luckily there were a few space stations from various countries that joined together to form the Ark. 97 odd years later

Life is harsh, all crime is punishable by ‘floating’ – being thrown out of the airlock. Unless you are under 18. Things are failing on the Ark though and to save resources it is decided to send the teens to Earth to see if it is habitable yet.

They arrive to find it is habitable but not all of humanity was wiped out.

The first season was a bit of a surprise for me, it all sounded a little cliché but actually it really grew on me, with well filmed scenes and the ability to switch between perspectives well.  There are not always happy endings, such as when more than a few volunteers accept death to keep the Ark going – but don’t get saved at the last minute. There are some actual edge of your seat moments, such as when trying to contact the Ark to let them know they are not dead.

I don’t know if it is the style and the mystery or the Lost actor that harks to Lost but it is just enough to keep you interested and not enough to think it’s a clone.

The last episode really hit home the scale of the universe for me with the Ark crashing down to Earth.

Season 2 Episode 1:

The new season starts of well, the pace hasn’t slackened nor has the production quality. There are new mysteries, such as what are they hiding in the mountain? My money is on a Soylant Green type deal or a group of blood and organ farmers.

The theme of separate threads is still used, and I have to say I like it. You wonder when the threads will join up. Not heavily mind you, just enough.

We still haven’t abandoned space yet, ‘Dr Burke’ from Greys is still alive! Judging by the last scene there may be a big thread starting up, time will tell. I am looking forward to finding out what happens.

Not much more to say other than I like what I see so far.
