There is now just over a month to go till Didcot Comic Con!  We have received a great response from the local community and support from the local press. The tickets are selling like hot cakes!

We are full steam ahead to present a day of entertainment on the 18th June 2016, at Didcot Civic Hall.  We have a wonderful line up for all the family to enjoy.

Scheduled guests

  • Lightning McQueen rolls in straight out of Disney’s Cars for photo opportunities.
  • John Levene, the ever popular Sgt. John Benton of UNIT in classic Dr Who among other roles will be on hand for autographs and Q&A’s.
  • Meet Steve Benham from Little Britain and Harry Hill’s TV Burp .
  • The men behind the masks in Star Wars; John Chapman (A New Hope) and Mark Everex-Collett (The Force Awakens) talk about their time in the blockbuster franchise.
  • Toby Frost Author of ‘God Emperor of Didcot’, the second in his Space Captain Smith series, will be signing copies in the panel room.
  • Kit Cox talks with Spindles from the Wonky Spanner about the perils of monster hunting and will also be signing his work.
  • Cosplayers; Kitty Brooker, Lady Venom, DLS Cosplay and KaosAdy discuss the technical aspects of creating cosplay outfits and accessories.

There are many more guests, stalls and signing opportunities plus the chance to win £100 in the cosplay competition! There is something of interest for all age groups.

Our aim is to support the local community in the following ways:

  • The local Scouts are raising money by providing catering on the day.
  • 20% of all profits will go to the Fund for Children who support Oxford Children's Hospital, a charity close to our hearts.

Chris Wickham, of Advance Comix in Wantage, stated “Having recently opened a business in Wantage, I have experienced the local demand for Comics and all that surround them.   I knew my business would be popular but I had no idea there were so many fellow geeks around!  A Comic Con is a great chance for everyone to come together and celebrate this popular culture.  Plus the Civic Hall is the perfect location for the Comic Con as it is at the heart of Didcot and easily accessible from all over Oxfordshire and beyond.  I look forward to meeting current, and future, customers there!”.

Spindles, podcast host and producer of The Wonky Spanner website, stated “Comic Cons give everyone the opportunity to step outside of reality and embrace the possibilities of the fantastic!  We’ll be presenting a day of panels, personalities and entertainment to the local community.  It will be literally out of this world.”
