The Missy mystery, Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere

In the orginal draft of my "Into The Dalek" review, I noted that there was a striking resemblance between the Heaven that Missy takes the half faced robot to at the end of "Deep Breath", and the ruined garden that Amy finds herself in during "The Girl Who Waited".
I thought this observation deserved a post of it's own, so here it is.  These are the two scenes, what do you make of them?

Now, is this simply a case of using the same sets and locations? Or, as the roleplayer in me is shouting, is there PLOT here?  From "The Girl Who Waited" we know that each of these rooms existed in an accelerated time frame, and that the Doctor was unable to help Amy directly because of a disease that affected humanoids with two hearts.  Was that all part of an elaborate plan started by Missy, that she is now trying to repeat.  Were the Handbots that were administering "kindness" a technological evolution of the half faced robot?  Could Missy simply be a human emodiement of The Interface?

In truth, I have no idea, and I'm loving it.  It has been one of the intriguing mysteries of the new season of Doctor Who and it is engaging me more with the show in a way that "The crack in the wall" and "The Silence" didn't quite manage.

What do you think? What are your theories on Missy? Is she a returning character, or someone entirely new? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
