Winding down and gearing up
So... it's all change once again.
Due to an internal restructure at the County Council my job no longer exists. Well... It's a tad more complicated than that, but the net result is the same: I'm moving on. Happily it was a very short job hunting process. Out of the several jobs I applied for I got offered two roles and decided to go for a job as a PHP Drupal Developer for www.webcurl.co.uk.
I'm now working out my notice at the council and trying to get the Local Information System as good as it can be before I leave. However I fear for its future given the lack of people available to provide the support that it needs in order to continue. It makes me a bit sad to leave it behind as it's been my main focus at work for the last 3 years and we were just starting to really get somewhere with it. There's tons to do but I'm finding it difficult to maintain the enthusiasm knowing that I'm moving on.
Speaking of which I'm getting ready for the new job by re-developing The Wonky Spanner again to be an outlet for the various creative/development projects I've got on the go. I'm sticking with Drupal 6.22 as I believe this is what I'll mainly be using in the new job.
Finally, for a bit of fun here's a link to a video of loads of people (including my daughter and I) doing a workshop with Beltane Border Morris. It was this, and the evenings spent in their marquee playing and singing that made up our minds to join a morris team. Hence we are now members of Armaleggan Border Morris. As soon as there are videos of us taking part I'll post them up. Very excited about it all, especially as my top hat just arrived yesterday. :)
